Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon

Posted in General by Web Administrator on November 15, 2011

On Saturday 22nd October, Skipton A.C.’s top veteran runner Neil Pate, competed in the 25th Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon in Sabah, Malaysia. Deemed one the toughest mountain races in the world, the course is 21 kilometres long with 13,000 feet of climbing. There is a harsh time limit to reach the top and then to return to the finish. Competing in the Veteran race, Neil finished a superb 16th and 1st Brit out of 191 starters in a time of 4hrs 32mins. Two thirds of the starters were “Timed Out”.
Neil, a former Bradley resident, is currently living in Shanghai with his family. The globetrotting runner’s next challenge will be on Australia’s Gold Coast over the Christmas period.

Well done Neil, it’s good to know that my tempting you to come & try running hasn’t gone to waste. Good luck in Aussie land.
